Mark Ronson – Ride My Bike

Bikesong capture

I’d rather read it in English!

englishToday I’m Pedaling on a new entry to Clicks, Squeaks, Crackles, Rattles and Other Bike Noises section: The Bike Song by Mark Ronson & The Business Intl.

“The Bike Song” is part of  Ronson’s third studio album, Record Collection, released on 27 September 2010 and features Scottish singer Kyle Falconer from indie rock band The View and American rapper Spank Rock.

The song is lively rhythmic and full of cyclist flavour, a mixture of (biker) boy meets (cyclist) girl and the pedal machines rebellion when bikes come to life and capture a bikes thief. I really love the section sung by Spank Rock:

I can’t understand it, but I can’t really stand them

Girls love cars, cars cause harm to the planet

Don’t you wanna take a joyride on my tandem?

Humming on a huffy, don’t I look so handsome?

Mark Daniel Ronson (London, 1975) is an English DJ, musician & music producer, 3 Grammy and Brit Awards winner. He currently works with his band, Mark Ronson & The Business Intl.  Mark was born to writer Ann Dexter-Jones and one-time band manager Laurence Ronson. After his parents broke up, his mother married Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones, which contributed to a childhood surrounded by music.

They all feature in the video clip. The guy in the orange outfit with the big hair is Kyle Falconer. Ronson is the serious dude with white hair. Spank Rock wears glasses while riding a blue bike. And don’t miss gorgeous Ronson’s wife, French actress and singer Joséphine de La Baume, riding a white bike in a short white go-go dress.

At the end of the post you will find the lyrics and the unique opportunity to leave your impressions (and even a “like” if deserved).

Mark Ronson

Lyrics:

I run around town, around round the town
With the pedal to the me… The pedal to whatever (Repeat x4)

Shootin round these tricky bends
I hear a conversation in my head
Thinkin of the place to be
I sing a little melody instead
I won’t argue with myself, today my legs are gettin some hell.
My mama tells me I should stop
Go and get a real job
That can’t be the way that I roll
And everybodys growing up, having kids and paying rent and I’m getting count of it all

(Chorus)
Gunna ride my bike until I get home
Gunna ride my bike until I get home
Gunna ride my bike until I get home
Gunna ride my bike until I get home

Thinking bout the girl I met, a phone call that I haven’t made yet.
All the things I’ve done this week, and all the things I should’ve done instead.
I sweep the pavements and the parks; I hope I get home before its dark
My mama tells me I should stop
Go and get a real job
That can’t be the way that I roll
And everybodys growing up, having kids and paying rent and I’m getting count of it all

(Chorus)

I can’t understand it, but I can’t really stand them
Girls love cars, cars cause harm to the planet
Don’t you wanna take a joyride on my tandem
Humming on a huffy, don’t I look so handsome
Bass to bikes there so nice there priceless
Working on my calves the triceps to biceps, bypass the gas stop at traffic lights
I get a round round without a driver’s licence
Hello (hello) you walking, (farewell) farewell I’m off then
And I’m whipping through the city with a 40 and a 50 Polly popping on my wheelie

My mama tells me I should stop
Go and get a real job
That can’t be the way that I roll
And everybodys growing up, having kids and paying rent and I’m getting count of it all

(Chorus)

And I’m whipping through the city with a 40 and a 50 Polly popping on my wheelie

(Chorus)

I didn’t know this song – thank you for sharing it! Finally, there is an alternative “tandem” bike song to ‘Daisy, Daisy…” 🙂
